What is pilates?

Pilates is a full-body workout system based on the method designed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920’s. It uses special apparatuses designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture.

I’m new! Where do I begin?

First, welcome! Second, take a look at our offerings. We offer Private & Duet Sessions, Allegro Classes, and Mat Classes. As a brand-new beginner, it’s best to start with a few Private Sessions, especially if you have unique physical challenges and/or want to learn the principles of Pilates and the basic exercises. If you don’t require personal attention, then consider joining an Introductory to Allegro class to learn the Pilates concepts and foundational exercises on the Reformer Apparatus. Mat classes are the most challenging to the body, and requires getting up and down from your mat on the floor.

What is the difference between private sessions, allegro classes, and mat classes?

Pilates Mat Classes are performed on a mat on the floor, and require the ability to get on and off the floor.

Allegro Reformer Classes are performed on an apparatus called a Reformer, a spring-based carriage on wheels.

Private Pilates Sessions are tailored workout sessions guided by one instructor, utilizing various equipment, such as the Reformer, the Chair, the Barrel, the Trapeze Table, and more.

What do I wear?

Fitted, comfortable workout gear is best. Socks are optional (grippy yoga socks prefered). Hair up and out of the face. No jewelry or strong perfume. Do not put lotion on hands or feet prior to class.

What do I bring?

If it’s your very first session, download and fill out these forms. It’s a great idea to bring a water bottle, a towel, and workout socks (non-skid yoga socks or you can go barefoot).
