Orthotics are corrective shoe insoles (using either Superfeet or a custom neutral foot cast)designed to increase biomechanical foot alignment and enhance standing, walking, and running. A gait, standing, and dynamic movement evaluation is performed at New Motion to determine your needs. The final custom molded orthotic is fabricated from a cast of the patient’s foot at a Washington orthotics lab. The Physical Therapist and the Orthotist collaborate to guarantee a correct design which fully meets the client’s needs.
Pain in the foot or lower leg for longer than 8-10 weeks is a typical reason to investigate orthotics. Common diagnoses for an orthotic prescription include: Plantar Fasciitis, Metatarsalgia (mid foot pain) “Shin Splints” or lower leg muscle tendonitis, Bunions, Achilles tendinitis, and sometimes even knee, back, or hip pain.
